How did you obtain your work permit? What advice would you have for others about work permits?
For EU citizens it is easy, a bit administrative, but well organized and rather fast.
Have you taken language and cross-cultural training courses to prepare for your assignment? If so, how have they helped you on the job?
It was not really needed, for I integrated myself into German society while living in Austria. So, the move to Germany did not have a major cultural impact, it is more or less the same as Austria.
If you were transferred abroad by your employer, were you guaranteed a job upon repatriation? What type of mentoring programs does your employer offer?
Yes, and this job guarantee proved to be crucial, due to the changed economical climate. Next time, when I move abroad, I will also be asking for a job guarantee upon repatriation.
What advice would you offer others about finding jobs and working abroad?
Look for a lucrative contract, and go for it. You will learn a lot and it will eventually give you a head start for your next carrear move.
