What tips do expats have about residency and visas in Bangladesh?

“If you plan to stay in Bangladesh for a while, you will need to obtain a valid visa from the Bangladesh Embassy or Consulate in your home country. Depending on the length of your stay, you may need to apply for a long-term visa, such as a student visa, work visa, or business visa. You may also need to provide proof of financial stability, such as a bank statement, and a valid passport. Additionally, you may need to provide proof of health insurance and a valid return ticket,” said one expat living in Bangladesh.

“To apply for a visa to Bangladesh, applicants must submit an application through the Embassy of Bangladesh or an approved visa agency with the approved application forms, a valid passport, one passport-size photograph, and proof of travel arrangements. The application process usually takes up to 15 days to process. To qualify for a residency permit in Bangladesh, foreign nationals must have an approved work permit or employment authorization before they can apply for a residence permit. The application form must be completed and submitted at the local Immigration Office with all necessary supporting documents, including a valid passport and proof of residence. The process takes about 6-8 weeks for processing,” commented one member living in Bangladesh.
