Parent's Review of QSI International School Shekou in
What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
QSI International School Shekou
In what town or city is this school located?
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
What grade levels are represented at this school?
pe-k through grade 12
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Large facility, but it is old and located near bars in Shekou. Many classrooms, Gym, Multi-purpous room and soccer fiels across the street. Many sports activities.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home
country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
They have many ESL teachers for those who need help with English. The curriculum for older students is FINALLY getting more difficult, however, they still have the "only grade one can earn is an "A" or "B"....failing students have it too easy to make a "B". I feel this DOES NOT prepare for repatriation back to the home country.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There is a parent-teacher group, and many social activities.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
Watch your high school students CAREFULLY. There seems to be quite a bit of drug use in the area, along with the usual peer pressure.
