Parent's Review of International School of Bogor in Bogor, Indonesia

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

International School of Bogor

In what town or city is this school located?

Bogor

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

Attempting to be international

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Pre school to Grade 7

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Private car

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Facilities are limited due to small land locked space. Very small grounds. Wide variety of extra curricular activities available.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

There are no transition programs except for invitations to social functions. No repatriation program.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Lots of social events but no organisation. School board is imposed rather than representative of parents. No opportunity to vote.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

This school is fine, if you want your child to have a lot of extra curricular activities but don't care about academics. There are no textbooks used and the curriculum seems to meander along at the whim of teachers rather than have any plan. Many children have withdrawn from the school (including my own) and found that they are well behind when sitting entrance tests for other schools. The school seems in disarray with noone having a clue how to address parents concerns.

This comment was made in 2007 and significant changes have been made since then with a new Head of School and a clear curriculum. academic standards have risen significantly and the school is now an outstanding community based school that welcomes students from many nationalities and backgrounds.
