International French School of Kathmandu

In what town or city is this school located?

Kathmandu

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International French/English, bi-linguale

What grade levels are represented at this school?

from age 2 to 11 at the moment

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

school bus, private car, bike, walk

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Arts, cooking, library, marchal arts. Swimming is part of the curriculum.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Extra hours for children needing to learn french, or english when in need. The teachers take care of them to make sure the catch up to join the group level upon arrival, during all year long. With the official introduction of the bilingual program in french and english 50/50%, the kids get well prepared to join any french or english medium schools after.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

No social activities for parents, but the school is like a family and we get to know each other through out the year during different kids art exhibitions, parties, school meetings every 3 month with parents who wish to get involved in the pedagogic program and organization comity of the school, with the director, the teacher and a member of the French Embassy.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

My two kids love it, it is like a big family house, where parents can take part in some action and decision. If you want a big school with lots of extra curriculum activities in sport and or social activities for parents then you rather go to other school. If you want to be in close to the children type of school, bilingual with small classes and great staff, then come, you will love this house, school, family !
