Parent's Review of Al-Nibras International School in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Kuwait

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Al-Nibras International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International or Bilingual (they can't even decide)

What grade levels are represented at this school?

k-10

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

mostly cars

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

New football field, auditorium, playground (no equipment), cafeteria. There are extra-curricular activities but are offered for a fee (which I hear is illegal in Kuwait). The teachers who perform them are unqualified anyway. They boast electronic whiteboards in every classroom but my children told me that 99% of them don't work because they haven't paid for the service yet.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

This school is not American curriculum in the least. The children don't learn because they are busy leaving the classes and rebelling against teachers with no consequences. There are no programs and probably never will be to prepare any children for repatriation. If your child plans to live in the boondocks of Kuwait for the remainder of their lives, then this is definitely not the school for them.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

I attended ONE event and no other parents even showed up! It was embarrassing! The parents are invited often to events at the school but never show up at all.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

My kids hated the school and most of the teachers. The teachers are obviously not happy so they don't treat the children right. The children are 99% behavior problem children and aren't given any consequences which frustrates the teachers (from what it looks like). It's sad because the school, being new, could have wonderful potential but it seems that Management is not experienced and have no idea what they are doing when they hire, organize and disclipline.
