Parent's Review of International School of Latvia in Pinki, Latvia

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

International School of Latvia

In what town or city is this school located?

Pinki

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International using the IB in all grades PK-12

What grade levels are represented at this school?

PK - 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

A very good bus system is offered by the school and I put my kids on it.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Brand new purpose built school.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The school is great. This is our third international school and this one is by far the best. They made the application process very easy and welcomed us into the school with open arms.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

The PTO is outstanding. The other school puts pressure on the parent to join the school but this group wants us to make an informed decision based on what is best for our child. ISR feels like a big playground where ISL feels and acts like a quality educational institution.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

If you want your kids to learn pick ISL. If you want them to play pick ISR.

Really. When I visited ISR it was suggested that I should visit both schools so that I could make the right choice for my family. There was never any pressure to sign up.

This review is not accurate. I lived in Pinki and still drove my children the 18km to ISR for 4 school years. We are now based in The Hague and credit the success my children have had in changing international schools and high academic placement directly to the warm and positive environment ISR provided. ISL provides a hard sell to anyone that enters its doors (especially those living in Pinki). ISR is a wonderful school and will expand to grade 12 in the upcoming years.
