Parent's Review of Dubai American Academy in
What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
Dubai American Academy
In what town or city is this school located?
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
What grade levels are represented at this school?
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
private cars, bus
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
The buidling is new and extends an open and welcome atmosphere. There is a pool, cafeteria, theater, and gym. The elementary school has a computer lab as well each grade level has mini-labs outside the classrooms. The high school and middle school also have computer labs. There are a variety of sports, drama, and music extracurricular activities available in the high school. Via the school newspaper I see there are also a large number of after school activities for the elementary students. The school is in the process of expanding and is building a new elementary section which will have its own pool.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home
country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
Because we are American there was no need for a curriculum transition. However, there are always transition factors when changing schools and DAA is built on a "culture of kindness" which very much comes across the minute one enters the school.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
This school is very forward in its engaging of parents. The parent organization organizes a number of events during the course of a year for students and other parents. Parents are encouraged to visit often.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
I would say DO! Your child will be warmly welcomed by all. (S)He will get a top notch rounded education from educators who sincerely care about the students.
