If you plan to live here buy international insurance if you can. The local doctors are very good for the most part and are not expensive, but if you have a serious problem it can get expensive with out insurance using a government hospital, (you have to be a Permanente resident to use the government hospital)

Emergency Medical Care

The closest hospital is about 30 miles from Cara Sucia, in Sonsonate or about 60 miles to San Salvador. The private hospitals are very good, The government hospitals are bad, but the doctors are very good.
