Looking to know a few folks before I come this time; and, learning spanish too. How is the cost of living now; and, what does a nice apartment cost these days? I was paying around 5k pesos/month in 2004 for a very nice armed guarded 3 DR then, and a one time fee of about 1k for each of elec/water to be turned on. Never figured that one out.
Best,
Seth

I moved here Nov. 1, 2012. It's like anywhere else in the world. If you are on a shoe string budget, you will have to live in an area that is more risky to being robbed and hasseled like a tourist. I live a hafl block from the new metro system in a secured building with private parking, 2 bedrooms fully furnished with cable TV and internet, water, gas included for $500.00 USD per month. I take Appollo Taxi to shopping, movies and entertainment, resteraunts for $4.00 USD My area looks much like Santa Monica California near the beach. Baasically, you get what you pay for. If you want to be disturbed with loud noise and music, then you can get an apartment in the local's area for $ 160.00 USD per month. To live comfortable, you will need at least $ 2,000.00 USD per month.

If $500 gets you a furnished 2 BR furnished apartment, with utilities, TV, internet included, in a secured building, why would you need $2,000 per month to live comfortably? Whats the other $1500 used for besides food?
