I am looking into retiring in the DR in the next couple of years. I will be 67 at that time and I'm just trying to get an idea what other expats around my age are paying for health care.
I' m a US vet and I have read that there're 3 VA clinics on the island.

I also a vet. Are you retired or disable. If retired you get ChampVA. Disable you are cover for rated disabilities only, I purchased private healthcare here in DR. Covers the private hospitals and cost 16,000 pesos a year $350.00. My wife goes to Medical Liaison and Veteran Assistance. That is for her full coverage on ChampVA. They process all paperwork and refunds for prescriptions. You can also check with the Foreign Medical Program. Sign up for that. Keep all options open. Good Luck

Thanks for replying. I am not retired nor disabled. The cost for health care sounds good. What is the age for that cost?

I am 63. Then again, I have no idea how Medicare programs would work over here. If that applies to you. I mean with reimburse. You see a lot of advertising about buying foreign medical insurance from referable US companies over here. But then again the DR medical Ins. should be enough.
