You are not alone. The Algerian public school system recognizes that these children have difficulties and will give students coming home from overseas dispensation from taking exams in languages they don't understand yet. That takes some pressure off of the students while they are struggling to learn Arabic especially. Private schools vary, but I don't think you should expect to find a specialized teacher. Language instruction should start at home with a tutor or in a language school (and immediately!), then continue once the child is in school. For private schools, The Ministry of Education will decide what grade level the child will be placed in, but schools will vary whether the student will stay in their class or attend with lower grades until their language skills improve. This is an very personal choice and really requires someone to be in Algeria visiting schools in order to make the best decision. I hope that helps!

Hello mustafalotfi,

We've opened an Algerian Primary school in Cheraga, specifically to help Algerian and international families find success at school in Algeria. We teach an Arabic/English bilingual program, approved by the Algerian Ministry of Education. We provide French instruction as well, with intensive courses available on request. We are pursuing accreditation with International Baccalaurate. We're in our first year with great results already. Please see more about our school here: www.facebook.com/legrandatlas or contact +213 660 36 52 99 for more information.

Hi mustafalotfi ,

I moved from the US a couple of years ago with 2 kids, age 3 and 5 both spoke only English a little bit of french. I put the oldest in a private Algerian school and by the end of the year he could, write, read and speak french and Arabic, I was amazed! But it wasn't all good since the school system in Algeria is so different from the American, had to go through an adaption phase which wasn't easy...
Good luck!
