Hi arthow,
I just saw your 3/19/19 posting concerning a rental in Buenos Aires. I have a very spacious and luminous 1BDR/1BA apartment on the 17th floor, with fantastic uninterrupted views of the city, fully furnished. Building has 24/7 security. It is located in the very center of the city with many restaurants, coffee houses, and public transportation at your doorstep. The US$ goes a LONG way here. Please reply if still interested. I know the city very well, born and raised in Argentina educated in USA and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Resist Temptions....somewhere in the Bible is this sound advice.
Where are you currently living? Why do you believe Argentina would be a better place for you? What don't you have now that you believe Argentina would provide for you? And, Where in Argentina would you like to live?
Currently I consider Argentina a "basket case," that has very high covid-19 problems, a terribly weak economic system, and inflation continuing to be very high.
While $1300 US could give you shelter and basic food stuffs, you wouldn't be in what is normally considered: desirable locations. You could "escape" to a small pueblo in one of the outer provinces, or live in a problematic city neighborhood.
Do you speak Spanish fluently? If not, I would cross off Argentina, except to visit as a tourist. After spending a month or so wandering around the cities and seeing the sights, you could determine yourself if Argentina has more to offer than what you have a present.
The grass on the other side of the fence may look greener, but it is normally a self-made illusion.
I enjoy visiting Argentina, which I have done over 25 times in the past 14 years, but I would never leave the USA to resettle there. There are many better locales to escape to then Argentina.
Visit - when the quarantines are over - spend some time traveling around - then you will have personal knowledge to make an intelligent, and not an emotional - decision.

Casey,
todikaios just sent a reply and I agree with the assessment.
Especially with the spread of Covid-19 in Argentina.
Can you even fly into Argentina today? And equally as important, can you fly out?
Bill Bonner has been stuck there for 7-months because of Covid-19.
I lived in Argentina 5-years and build 50+ acres of vineyards from scratch. To say it was and is a hair raising experience is an understatement.

That was an old post. I hope the guy found his spot. There are many of us considering an escape before the dictatorship fully takes hold. I'd love to visit Argentina, and who knows maybe I'll like it (but not on $1300 a month). Best bet in that situation would be Mexico.

Hi Intransit1,
I know Argentina and the city of Buenos Aires very well, and travel there frequently, with long stays. Barring the fact that there is a pandemic right now, Buenos Aires is a beautiful city and you will feel very at home there. No minor point, it is also extremely inexpensive now for anyone with a hard currency income. It's always good to listen to all comments, and as every large city it has its pluses and its minuses, but don't get defeated by the relentless negativity that reflect only someONE's point of view. So much so that I personally wonder: what are they talking about? There is a LOT to like also. You can email me at [email protected] if you'd like further information. Good luck!

Take to heart what Todikaios has to say, it is wise advice.
Your budget is thin unless you want to live in less desirable areas in the city or out in the country which creates the necessity of transportation or an all day excursion just to go to town.

Yeah some of the "experts" on here had some bad experiences apparently (I wonder why) and basically have a disdain for the country and its people. I guess their plans for exploitation of the workers didn't work out like they planned. So now, they sit back and judge harshly anyone who doesn't share their narcissistic and arrogant viewpoints. The US is rife with these types now.

As with almost all situations, follow the money trail to determine the accuracy, veracity and viewpoint of comments. Those who lose $$, or who feel they have, will be critical. Those who have comfortable incomes, or have not experienced losses, will be more appreciative of living in a different culture.
