Hi, I am new to this. Are there any American Ex-Pats living in Austria that I can communicate with? I have often considered moving to Carinthia and live as an American Ex-Pat.

Thanks

Hello,

I moved here permanently in July of 2015. I am about two hours drive fro. Vienna. You didn't mention what city so I can give you some general observations. My wife is also Austrian.

The country is beautiful and for the most part people are very friendly. If you plan to move permanently German language is required in most cases. Your tourist visa can last up to three months. Your language skill should be at the A1 level. More advance levels are required for a permanent stay.

English is widely spoken but I would start learning German now if you don't all ready know it.

All though I have a car traveling by train is the best way to get around. Public transit is great and convenient.

All together this is a great place to live
