Hi, I recently relocated to Nassau from the US. Curious to know how other expats have handled your mail?

Hi,

There are several stores that offer mail forwarding service on the island. We are from the U.S. originally, so we rent a postbox from Postboxes, Etc. in the Cable Beach area that has a Fort Lauderdale, FL address. Our mail from the U.S. is forwarded to the warehouse in Florida, which then sends it by air mail to Nassau. We then pick up our mail from the Postboxes, Etc. store. It costs about $200.00 per year. Packages and large envelopes carry additional freight charges. If you shop with Amazon, for example, you will have to pay freight charges on the package as well as any duties and VAT assessed by Customs. You pay Postboxes the duty and VAT, and they will pay Customs for you. Just be aware that any packages you receive, even gifts, will be assessed freight, duty, and VAT. I have had to pay sometimes as much as $25 for gifts that people have sent me!
