Building in the Bahamas

To all my fellow expats: I recently finished building my house on San Salvador, Bahamas. It was a long and arduous journey. When I started, I found very little in the way of detailed information. And being a blue collar guy I could not just keep throwing money at the project until it was done. So I documented my adventure and stuffed it all into a book called "A Shack on a Beach Somewhere, A How-To Guide". It is filled with information I wish I'd had before I started. I wrote it to share with like minded people. It's available on Amazon and is free to those with Amazon unlimited. I hope it helps satiate those thirsting for information.

Hello!
This is a brilliant read. As someone researching a move to Nassau in the (hopefully near future, this was very informative - particularly the chapter on import / customs.
I wish you well with the Coast Guard House :-)

Hi Stig,

Please remember that Nassau is very different from San Sal. Nassau has access to a lot more than the out islands, but yes, use this as a guide to doing things in the Bahamas!!! Then expect something in between what you were hoping for and what gerald's experience has been.

That said, yes, the duties and VAT are here, even in Nassau!
