Getting from BZ City to San Pedro

Hi -
I am coming to Ambergris in March as an exploratory visit in my quest to find a retirement location.

I am flying into Belize City. What is the best way to get to San Pedro from there and approx costs? I hear there is an express ferry nearby.

Any advice?
Thanks!

For the small extra cost and inconvenience and discomfort of going by ferry fly Tropic , unless ur a skin flint , then u cant afford AC.

The cheapest way but not the quickest is by watertaxi. From Belize city to San Pedro I would prefer Ocean Ferry since they dont have a gringo price. If you need more info on where to stay or what to do my email is [email protected]. The next option is a direct flight from the international airport.

The views from the plane if you have never done it before, is as they say "worth the price of admission."

Just sit in the back of the water taxi, in choppy waters that front seat is a rough ride......I think it is about 25.00 US for the ticket....

100% worth taking the flight. Not dismissing the charming fun of the ferry, but after adding taxi/tip and then I think you have to buy a roundtrip ticket for the ferry. Not a huge cost diff in the end. Also, If you get the mid/late afternoon ferry, it gets dark fast and the ferry takes forever... vs. a quick jumper, then in your room and at the bar by sundown= worth it. Take the ferry in the morning the day you're leaving and say you did both :)

Hi

I don't see this mentioned so thought I'd jump in. The airport is nowhere near the place you take the water taxi from. You will be landing in Ladyville and then need to take a Taxi downtown to the water taxi terminal. That could be $20 to $25 maybe

Tropic Air

Maya Island Air

both have websites.

About $70 - $80USD one way / flight is 15 minutes

Total cost pp = $150 - $180

Water Taxi - Belize San Pedro Water Express

Taxi from BZE Intl to dock = $30USD

Boat Tix (RT) $28USD pp

Cab on return back to airport

Total Cost pp (based on 2) = $58USD

I would suggest doing the water taxi on the way here and a flight back (that way you get a feel for both the water, other islands and get the pretty scenery on the flight back) - more experiences makes you more aware as well.

I would suggest flying out of Belize for the same fare. Closer to Belize City and one doesn't have to go through security which, at busy times, can take forever. On Maya Island Air, the fare is the same.

Belize Municipal Airport. Sorry

But you need a taxi , fly from international , so much easier and less worry for a few more bucks , if theres a whole family , put wife and kids on ferry anfd you fly direct to AC , only joking !!
