BEEN DEAD for over 3 years, closed down shipyards, laid off thousands because of the Petrobras scandal.

Ola BN,

I have a best friend (Swede married to Braz here for 25 years) working in Oil business on platform off Rio for years. 14 months ago they shut down the rig and scrapped it, a serious downturn in the industry. He and buddies without work since then. He runs a Pousada anyway but real $ was with Petrobras.....

Highly skilled, qualified electrician with experience in Nuclear industry as well, therefore in high demand. But nada. Scandal with PB has put a dent in things for sure. However..... Brazil will come back if any country can, there are few in the world with the oil reserves, the natural resources, the water, the land, minerals, agriculture potential to expand for decades that is found here. If could be easier for an expat to crack into it today in your field, but anything is possible if you have the will, and for sure in time it will improve in the oil sector IMO at least. Good luck and all the best, D

To get a job in these fields that you indicate in Brazil is simple because it is an economy sector where there is always demand of workers if you are a professional in these fields this is very good. If you are a foreigner in this case I would advise you to first contact a company in Brazil in this field and agree everything before going to Brazil so as to have a certainty of work with an effective contract if necessary.

Yes it is a truth and you must have a little patience and so soon everything will improve because in Brazil there is a lot of bureaucracy but the government realizes that this field of economics is very important to develop because it is the basis of the Brazilian economy and can thus bringing a large number of jobs to citizens.
