Colombian Wins Tour De France

Egan Bernal of Colombia won the Tour de France. Of course, that's only if someone doesn't discover he was doping during the next 100 years, in which case they will take away his title and may or may not give it to the runner up. Anyway, congratulations Mr. Bernal. For me, if his tests come back clean, he is the champion forever, just like you-know-who. :-)

For his and Colombia's part, I hope he comes clean also DS!

It would be a huge disappointment if Bernal is subsequently found to have won via doping as within the cycling fraternity he has a spotless reputation and he, and his humble family, have already done much to improve the reputation of Colombia on the world stage.

Three or four months ago I asked some local, keen cyclists who we should look out for in this year's Tour de France. They had no doubts - watch out for Bernal.

Dallas...Great news for Colombia ! I too hope he is "clean" so his title will remain intact. I was with some Colombian friends, watching the finish and the sheer joy of seeing their overwhelming happiness, at the sight of Egan's victory was a sight to behold.

As far as Lance is concerned...to me...Lance is a Champion and always will be...as he was not the only one doping during that period of time. Many times, a famous athlete must be made an example of, in an attempt to clean-up the sport, as we have seen in Professional Sports in the U.S.
It is what it is. Buena Suerte !

I agree. My point of view is that when Lance won, almost all of the top riders were doing something shady. He was just doing what was necessary to even the playing field. If everybody had been riding clean I believe Lance would've still won, but, I'll admit, there's no way to really know.

The rules were if you cross the finish line first and your tests come back clean you are the champion. That's what he did. Then they made new rules and The Tour De France became a joke.

Yes really cool! Here is info from Wiki, he is from Zipa!

Early life

Bernal was born in Bogotá, the oldest child of Germán (an employee at the Salt Cathedral) and Flor (a flower factory worker), and raised in the nearby town of Zipaquirá. His father had been a keen amateur cyclist, and he started riding on a second hand bicycle at age five. At nine, he entered, against his father's wishes, and easily won a race in his home town, the prize for which included a training scholarship.[1][8]

He initially focussed on, and excelled at, mountain biking, winning races in Brazil, Costa Rica and the US and getting both silver (2013) and bronze (2014) in the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships junior cross country events.[9]
