Living in the outskirts of the city in CALI, COLOMBIA

Most expats and travelers come to Cali to experience city life which can be easily achieved with low rent expenses, ease to move around the city by foot, bike, taxi or what we call EL MIO, similar to a METRO bus in Houston, TX for example, just very crowded. However, there is another side of Cali which holds beauty, fresh air, cooler temps and awesome views of the city. This are of Cali can offer a quieter life style again with easy access to the city and all of its noise. The mountains that surround the valley, all offer small neighborhoods, some with very nice homes, for example an area called EL MAMEYAL, which is nestled among trees, only 8 minutes from downtown Cali, on CERRO DE CRISTO REY. One can see the statue of Christ King from the city. Right below it, you can find EL MAMEYAL, a gated community of 95 houses and amazing large gardens where visitors and residents find the widest variety of flowers, trees, birds, iguanas and much more. - There are other similar areas, for example DAPA which is also up on a 'cerro' which is a small mountain. DAPA is on the skirts of CERRO DE LAS TRES CRUCES. - Also, la CARRETERA AL MAR is full of 'caseríos' that offer beauty in every sense of the word, cooler temps and a much quieter life style. EL SALADITO on the 'way to the sea' is a good example of a very attractive 'caserío'. - And the list could be very extensive, but I live it to the traveler to discover more on his/her own.
