Getting close to 90 days here in Cali. I need to extend for another 90 days. I hear you can do it on-line. I also hear you have to show them a return flight ticket. Since I intend to apply for an M visa eventually, I dont have one. I have heard conflicting stories. Anyone have helpful info?

I think the person behind the desk has a lot of flexibility in what is required. The surest way to know what you need to do is to go to immigration and ask. I had one guy tell what I had to do, then he took my passport and did it all himself, I was the only person in line and he knew my amiga.
I extended, then changed my ticket.

You need to go to the local imigracion with your passport and the money. I have never heard of a return ticket requirement. Your can only stay 120 days in one year unless your are able to get a visitors visa in time.

@tubes
Thought you could renew for another 90 days thus 180 days total. Am I wrong about that?

I did it all on line and the process was pretty straight forward and very quick. There is no return ticket requirement.

While you can do almost all of it on line I think that unless things have REALLY changed you'll have to go to a bank to pay the fee. Depending on the the hour, day and the bank this could add much waiting time and frustration to the process.

I did it online and it requested me show proof of exit. So I got "proof" of my departing flight and attached it to the application. I made the mistake of waiting till the last day of my 90 days. The system rejected it and I had to go in person. I did not get penalized for overstaying. But I did have to waste my time and go to the Migracion office. It's my fault for procrastinating. But I finally got it done. There, they also asked for proof of exit flight. PM me if you have any questions.
