Hi All,
Anyone have any experience or suggestions about keeping a US phone number by parking it, call forwarding...
I've had it for 20 years and would like to track it for a while to see who calls it. And I may reactivate it when back in the States.
Thanks

Matters may vary depending which telephone company is running your account. Call and find out.

Chatt...I believe that some US cellular phone companies can put your number on "inactive" for a while(don't know how long)..and they charge a nomimal fee of $12-$15 USD for this service. That way you can keep your number, if you plan to return to the US at some time. A friend of mine from Arizona did that after he arrived in MedellĂn. Buena Suerte !

You can check on OOMA.com. I have my business number for the past 20 years and through OOMA I can remain in contact. Some clients don't even realize that I am in Colombia

I use a Ooma account and when I call back to the USA I just use the Ooma app on my phone to make calls no extra charge. Ooma is a VOIP once you set this up in the states you are good to go. If you want to keep you phone from the states just port it over. You can revive phone messages but if you want receive phone calls you will have to pay more. I just have my family and friends text me and I just call them back. Easy well I hope this helps.

Google voice works well with a vpn. This way you have a US phone number so that banks can text you codes or messages and it's free. I have been using it now in the states so that when we finalize the move it should be an easy transition. Get a good headset so that if you need to call the US you will have a good reception etc. On my last visit, my bank in the US called me and never knew I was in Colombia at the time. Sweet!
