U.S. citizen with expired. Colombian cédula de ciudadanía. Anyone knows the process to renew my cédula? Do I have to apply like I did the first time I got it? Or is it a simpler process to renew it? Please reply. Thank you.

LOL- I cant believe some of these posts
If your cedula expired means your vísa has expired which means you are an.illegal, which is a BIG ISSUE.
Probably nothing that money wont solve though..at least so they will let you out of the country without.jailing you
Good luck renewing your Visa though after you leave.

Hmmm, Im confused. Maybe you are using the wrong term. If you have a cedula de ciudadania then you are a citizen and don't need to worry about that issue. Does your cedula card say cedula de extranjeria?

I assumed you were in Colombia
Maybe you are in the US or otherwise outside of Colombia.
At anyrate, it is the same process to get a visa and then cédula as previously.

Correct to all the replies below (or above) . Colombian cédula de ciudadanía's don't expire. Cédulas de extranjería's do.
If you are in the USA - and want to come to Colombia again, no problem, tourist visa or even apply for a renewal of your Cédula de Extranjería again from where you are.
I you are still here in Colombia - start saving for the fines.

The Colombian Government has a Fee/Tax for literally everything in life. My experience I overstayed my length of time during the Covid19 BS, when checking in at El Dorado Airport “United Airlines”they obviously look at your Passport and see the entrance date and then said I owe $$$$ to exit Colombia. Pay the Tax and you are free.

I over stayed my tourist stamp.many years ago by mistake.
It was the time of DAS before migraciones Colombia. They were a lot stricter and.more corruppt.
It was Saturday and for some reason the DAS people werent at the airport in Cali.
So I rebooked my flight for Tuesday, and paid thefine Monday. They also made me get mug shots from various angles, finger prints, sign numerous documents.
Did not affect my later visa applicatons in anyway.
Wouldnt do it on a regular basos though.
