Preparations needed?

As of October 2022 I have begun my journey starting with the necessary processes of travelling to the city of Medellin. Currently, I have my passport being processed, The visa process is a bit unclear though. I plan to request a "M" visa for retirement purposes. I do however have a lot of concerns about how best to do this (arrival documents, etc). Hopefully, there are members who'll will read this message and coach me through the particular steps necessary to achieve my goal. I don't know anyone who has moved abroad so it seems a bit daunting. I have researched but feel there may be conflicting information about what is required initially. I am bringing a pet with me this seams to complicate things a bit. I don't want to make the process more complicated that it should be. Is there anyone that could ease the stress level I am feeling...

Note: I have airline tickets to arrive in Medellin December 6th, I have booked my stay for two weeks initially. Then look for a permanent solution during this period.
However, I do need to get into the country first with the right documents.

Any help will be much appreciated! Oh, I am learning a bit of Spanish to ease my mind, somewhat!
