Canadian help??!! Kids, etc lots of questions if you can help!

Hi,

I am hoping to get in contact with anyone from Canada who is making the move / has moved to Costa Rica.

My husband and I have been to Costa Rica many times, and like everyone else on here, we fell in love!
We have a few questions and are wondering if anyone may be able to help!
We know that we need to make a 5 year deposit of $120,000 for the both of us to obtain Rentista, and we are fine with this, however we have heard something about being able to apply for permanent residency after only 2 years. Im wondering if anyone else has any more information about this? What happens to your deposit? If after 2 years they grant permanent residency but Rentista takes 5 years, is your money still tied up until then??
-Also, Im wondering about a mortgage.... If we have deposited $120,000 and its secure for 5 years, can we get a mortgage based on this??I am kind of hoping that maybe we can put a down payment on a house and then pay off the remaining with a mortgage over 5 years with the monthly pay out of the Rentista money.Anyone have any advice at all?? :)
-Okay, my other question is about my daughter! She is 6 years old, and came to Costa Rica for a month in November with us so she could get a feel for the country... Well she absolutely loved it too, so im feeling good about moving her there, however, my biggest concern for her is interaction with other childeren!! I will be homeschooling her for the first year, and really would like to find other children that are in the same situation! Anyone out there know if there is some kind of group etc.. that gets together?
Thank you :)
