Must E bikes be registered or insured in Costa Rica? if I bring in piece meal in luggage and baggage are they subject to tariffs?

You can bring a lithium battery up to 160w but need to get permission first and only certain airlines.

TSA and any airline will be quite upset if they find that battery in your luggage.

From the little I know, you can't bring in the lithium battery used for an e-bike.

When imported, they must be on a container ship.

Check the airlines.

I found this old post but it is regarding taking one into Panama so it is 'probably' similar.
