My wife and I have lived in Las Vegas for 43 years. We plan to sell our home and this will provide us with proceeds sufficient to set up residence anywhere. We would like to buy or build a home large enough for family gatherings. Neither of us speak Spanish, but we would learn if we moved to a Spanish speaking country. I am 78 and my wife is 75 and we are active and healthy.

Our family has an animal rescue in Las Vegas and we would plan to bring two dogs. I have read about the large feral dog population in Costa Rico.

We are environmentally conscious and clean air and water would be a concern. Our home in Las Vegas is powered by the sun and I am hoping there are solar panel contractors in Costa Rico.

We currently live on a half acre and would never care to live in an area where houses are too close together. That is not to say we don't love our neighbors. We just don't care to be elbow to elbow with them. We live in an area where a half acre is the smallest lot you can build a custom home on. If we were to settle into a residential neighborhood we would want a large lot in an area of large lots.

We have never lived on or near a beach, but we have vacationed in the Caribbean and rented a condo on St. Megans Bay. We loved it. A house close to or on the beach has some allure. But, have no idea of the affordability or long term livability of life there or even where the best place to look would be.
