Hello!

I realize for me to learn Spanish will be to fully immerse myself, however I want to do as much as I can before I come to Costa Rica. I am not a big fan of the language resourses I have tried to date and was wondering if anybody has any suggestions as to online language Spanish lessons that helped them out prior to their visit.
Thanks so much!!!

I don't recommend any self-guided apps for language learning, like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone. They are fine for acquiring vocabulary, but they're not good at all for learning how to use the language with native speakers.

To do that, you have to use the language with native speakers. There's no shortcut.

I like to recommend Lingoda.com. They offer online lessons, both group and private, with a lot of scheduling options. When you finish a level, you get a CEFR certificate, which is nice for the old resume. My wife is currently about 2/3 of the way done with the A1.1 level. I'm in B2.1 right now myself, and the quality is pretty high at both levels.

Another option is Italki. These are all private lessons, and the quality will vary according to the instructor you find. You can search for teachers from specific countries – including Costa Rica – which might be a nice way to learn both language and culture in one go.

Te recomiendo que practiques tanto como puedas, con hablantes nativos si es posible. ¡Buena suerte!
