2023 Marchamo

I am wondering if anyone else received an outrageously high marchamo bill this year?

The valuation on my 2018 car has been set at more than it was when I purchased it new. I have just learned from the Ministerio of Hacienda that they (the Hacienda) have arbitrarily raised the valuation of certain makes and models of vehicles to whatever they want it to be. The onus is on the owner to determine the current street value of that vehicle and submit proof to the Hacienda in San Jose to get the valuation changed.

This cannot be legal and I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem.

Yes I have a 1995 Geo and my marchamo went up 50%. My vehicle is not trimmed in gold! I really am not motived to deal with any government institution, because I believe it is a waste of time. If it goes up again, I may act on it.

Please remember that as part of Covid Relief here several years of the Marchamo were discounted.

It was great at the time, quite a relief!

It appears that the 2023 payment is 9% higher than last years on my 21-year-old Nissan Pathfinder and,

8% higher on our 14-year-old Chevy Equinox.

The seal includes several items, we detail what each one is and the importance they have according to the type of vehicle"

I do not mind a bit of an increase, HOWEVER- the valuation on my 4 year old car is now more than it was in 2018. I have never known a car to be worth more than when it was brand new unless it was an antique classic. The valuation for 2023 is 7,000,000 (yes- million) more than last year. I'd say that more than compensates for any Covid discount. The depreciation has been 10% every year as is customary in CR. The marchamo is 279,166c more than last year. Someone screwed up and I am wondering if I am the only person in CR with this problem.
BTW- I love CR too.
