Considering moving/buying in Ecuador

Hi, I'm a 37 year old US citizen currently practicing architectural design in the states.

I'm considering selling my US 'retirement property' to invest in Ecuador.

I have a lot of questions, many come up daily.

I don't speak Spanish, but I'm working on that, I bought the Rosetta Stone software with Spanish 1, 2, and 3.

I've recently done tons of research online to try to learn everything I can about Ecuador, even purchased books and checked out books at our local library.

My goal is to find something around the 25-50k pricerange. I don't want a condo, I want my own area so that I may grow a garden. I'm interested in modern ammenities such as water/sewer/power and internet. The internet would be essential for me to maintain work from Ecuador to the U.S. as the architecture I am accostomed to here is completely different than that in Ecuador.

I keep drawing to towns/cities on the Pacific such as Manta.

I have a lot of questions and I guess I'm just asking if anyone that lives in Ecuador, or others that have knowlege and experience with Ecuador would be interested in being a 'pen pal' so to speak, and share emails. I know this might sound like a lot to ask, but these forums are awfully slow.

Thanks for any input that anyone may have. I am very much interested in making some drastic decisions on my end for preperation to go to Ecuador.

Sincerely,
James
