Schools around Salinas, bringing children to Ecuador.

Hello,

My name is Jeff I am 34 years old, I currently live in Salem VA, and I retired last year. I have a wife, age 29, and two younger children. A son age 5, and a daughter age 8. My wife and I are tired of the same old things, and we want an adventure, something new and different, we have the freedom to not be tied to jobs any more so we can move around. We also want our children to learn and experience a new culture, as we feel that growing up in America is not the only way, and it would be good for them to experience life elsewhere as well.

Since we do not currently speak Spanish, I would like to find a bilingual school for my children so they can be educated in both. I don't want to slow down thier education by tossing them into a Spanish school, and having them have to learn Spanish immediately at thier grade level to be able to do thier lessons and keep up with the other children. I think this would set them back at least a year. I also think that a bilingual school would be best for them as they may choose to move back to the US one day for higher education, or work. If they one day choose that, I want them to be prepared.

I am not concerned as much about my wife or myself - We are trying to learn Spanish, and will one day get it, but would also like any info on Spanish classes in the Salinas area for adults. If there are none it's not a big deal, as we will learn on our own in time. I just would like to accelerate the process if possible so we can better function there.

We plan to come to Salinas for a month, July 10 to around august 10. The purpose for our trip is to first see if we enjoy the place, 2nd, look for a place to purchase. If we like it, I will remain behind to complete a purchase of property, while my family heads back to the US to start the process of getting ready to move. Once I have a place, I will return as well to tie up any loose ends here, and we will all come back together when we make the move.

Any info, anyone could provide on the schools or our plan would be greatly appreciated.
