US Phone Number

Hi All,

Anyone have any experience or suggestions about keeping a US phone number by parking it, call forwarding...

I've had it for 20 years and would like to track it for a while to see who calls it. And I may reactivate it when back in the States.

Thanks

You would be better with a 'Voip' (voice over IP) phone. A Voip phone is a telephone transferable to any location with a hard wire internet connection access point.

I have an Ooma. Google Ooma and you will find the equipment and locations to buy it at. With Ooma I 'ported' my local landline phone number and it is now on my Ooma phone which (in theory) can be used virtually anywhere I take it in the world that has a hardwired internet connection for me to plug it into.

Good Luck!

I transferred my 25 year old number to Google voice. Now google sends me an email every time I get a call on that number. If they leave a message, google transcribes it and sends it to me as an email. If it's a junk call, they just hang up without leaving a message.

Tip: I transferred my landline to a mobile phone number first (required) for about 2 days (metroPCS was cheapest) and then transferred it to google voice. Now I have a free google voice phone for a looooong time. I don't check this board often, Best of luck!

An American expat and his Ecuadorian wife, who initially lived with family in Quito, moved to Cuenca and enjoy life there. The expat husband advises anyone considering a move to Ecuador to learn Spanish, realize that you'll have to travel home see your family (most won't visit you) and know that homesickness happens in random moments that sneak up on you.
