Hi I do speak good Spanish and work in the public schools as an ESL Instructor. So language isnt the issue. I do have someone in ES looking for me too. She is a local in San Salvador. I tried joining the fb group but nobody has approved my request yet. That's a bummer. Any other advice is much appreciated. All The Best...

That group took 3 months before they got around to approving me so they might get around to you yet.
Keep in mind that the school year in El Salvador runs from mid January to mid November and the schools are way underfunded especially in the country areas so stick to looking in the well to do areas on San Salvador.

Yes i want to stay in or near San Salvador. My lodging will be in Soyapango. Escuela Panamerican has contacted me. No openings yet but want a CV for the future. I know the wages are not great but if I could get into a private school and pull in 800-1000.per month I could get by fairly well. Any help will be so appreciated. All the best.

I would rethink taking a lodging in Soyopango, not one of the desirable areas of the city for a gringo to live.

Hi I know Soyopango isn't the best place however I grew up in some very dangerous places here in the state's. I can handle myself. I survived getting shot at whilst deployed so I'll be ok. And Soyopango is only temporary. Once I get acclimated we will move to better place. Thanks so much

Terryfoss $800.-$1000. sounds great I wish I could get that much as far as I knew the most you get for teaching would be $ 300. to $400. but I am glad you got a great offer. I used teach English in Slovakia, did it for 7 years and I loved it. but I have tried here and never had an opportunity for teaching . I work for a call center American company. Making $550.00 which is really bad here in such as expensive country. there are other call centers that pay better anyways if you wanna work, there is plenty of work in call centers while you wait for the teaching job. Good Luck and welcome to El salvador

Welcome to El Salvador, nice to hear you were deployed, I'm ex-Navy myself 1 tour to Afgan, 2 to Iraq, I have been out of the Navy for quite some time and I also have work within some bilingual academies the pay is really not as expected but its nice to share knowledge with our future leaders,....you and I know what we can do so dont pay attention to that idiot posting negative comments, remember keep focus....also that comment on working out of call centers is not a bad idea I have done it and when possible I also do maintenance of the local police weapons and certify scuba divers...there's lots to do its just looking for it...Have fun and ...Hooyah...!!

Hi. I am not sure what internet connection is there, but have you looked into teaching English on-line? There are many companies in China that look for teachers. Can pay up to 20USD per hour. My husband who has been here since the 1980's legally is dealing with the same situation. If we can't get cancellation of removal, it will be back to El Salvador.
