Hi all,
My wife and I with our 8 months old daughter are considering to move to Fiji within the next few months. Could anyone please giver me some more information on Fiji itself, healthcare system and availability of doctors and paediatricians, cost of living and housing.
Can one buy a house or are you only allowed to rent?
Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!!
Regards, Werner

My husband and I moved to Fiji from Canada in Sept.2013 and are just loving it. We bought a home in Pacific Harbour and also a new vehicle as we thought used cars were pretty expensive and looking around we thought the used ones were run pretty hard too. Cost of living isn't too bad, we have internet and home phone which is 49.00 per month, satellite tv is 49.00 per month , water bill about 15.00 for 3 months and our electrical is about 200 per month, but we run our air con at night and also run about 8 fans all the time during the time we are up. These are all in Fijian dollars. We pay no property tax but we pay the local council about 900 per year for garbage pickup twice a week and also they pick up the clippings from the gardens as well. Shop at the local small stalls for fruits and veggies and we buy meat from the butcher in Nadi and he delivers to Pacific Harbour

Hi there,
Thank you so much for the info!! Sounds really great!
I have another question that I have to ask, being from South Africa, how is the crime in Fiji?
Other than that, it sounds really great! We sould be relocating in the next 2 months.

Another thing, where is Pacific Harbour in relation to Nadi? What churches are there?

Hi again,
Would also like to know which areas will be nice to live in and how do you go about renting an appartment?
How is the expat communities in Nadi or surrounding areas? I will be flying for Fiji Link and would like to live relatively close to the airport?
Any ideas?

Pacific Harbour is about 2 hours from Nadi so probably not where you want to be so I would look in Nadi so you are close to the airport, good luck

Crime is really not bad, you read that its everywhere but that is a bit exaggerated I think. Just don't be foolish, keep doors locked and valuables out of sight. Lots of beggars on the streets of Nadi and Suva so just be careful, especially around holidays there seem to be pickpockets about. It is no worse than anywhere else, just be sensible
