Moving Furniture from the US to France

Our furniture is on a ship on its way to France! It took several months of research and interviewing overseas moving companies before we selected JK Moving in the US who partner with AGS in France. Their quote was lower than others and friends recommended them. They have a well coordinated team. The men from Global Moving in Miami who packed and loaded our possessions were experienced professionals. Although the ship left 5 days later than originally scheduled, the arrival date at Fos Sur Mer (Marseilles) did not change. We listened to the advice of friends who have made international moves and those on blogs when making choices of what to take with us. Items include electric lamps, counter top electric appliances, used furniture, gardening tools, and darn near everything we had considered leaving behind. We tried to fill the container because open space can cause items to shift and become damaged, but we did not succeed. However, the movers braced the furniture into place like they do it everyday which apparently they do.

What we really liked was the way our international move coordinator in the US immediately copied the entire team on all email. They provided a list of all required documents and gave links with instructions on how to complete some of the forms. They reviewed the documents and when we made an error they explained and had us make the correction. Our experience thus far has been quite positive.

Until everything is delivered and any damage assessed, repaired or is paid for by insurance, we reserve a complete recommendation.
