Higher ground nr. Pezenas?

Hi all,
I’m planning to move to Pezenas next summer, but have been concerned by reports of flooding in recent years..
Does anyone know if flood defences have been updated recently, and what if any are places nearby with higher ground?
I’m moving alone and have friends in Pezenas so don’t really want to be far away.
Any help or suggestions most appreciated.
I can’t wait!!!
Di

I have friends who live there, and one of them gave the following information:

Pézenas itself is pretty high.
If you go to the 'cadastre' site you should be able to see if a zone is red or blue with explanation.
If it's in a flood zone insurance is hard to get.
Most flooding places are bought by the city by now.

Hope this helps!

Pezenas is delightful sure, I would add only one thing: when you find a property that feels right and you decide to buy it appoint your own lawyer/notaire. There are many horror stories, including my own experience. Having said that I am happy that I bought my own house (within hours of seeing it) however I would suggest that you seriously consider advice given by experienced property pros: rent first, that will get you living near your friends, and the ability to know the region according to your own preferences. Good luck! Traderjo
