Long-Stay Visitor Visa on Savings Alone

Hi,

My Spouse and I hope to move to France soon (from the USA), and initially plan to live exclusively off of our savings. We are still 2 years from age 62, so we won't have SS or pension income until then.
We anticipate requesting a Long-stay Visitor visa, as we definitely will not be working in France. I realize that the French Consulates here are not currently processing Visa applications, but they do still provide information on what documentation is needed for such an application.
One listed requirement states, "For retirees, a Pension Certificate."
My question is this... We will be able to show sufficient resources on which to live (via account statements) for the duration of the visa term, but will have no way to produce a "Pension Certificate." Does anyone here have any thoughts on whether or not living off of savings alone will be acceptable for a Long-stay Visitor visa? Randy
