Moving in 2 weeks time - European health card question

Hi

Very new to this, actually I've just this minute joined ! .. So I'm coming over to France 3rd week in October and intend staying for the 3 months required before June 2021.
Understanding that I need the three months to qualify to join the French system, will my EHIC cover me for the 3 months with added travel insurance, or do other members recommend I fork out for private health insurance ? I've had a quote for insurance but I'm really unsure if its a necessary expense when my EHIC is still valid and good until the 31st December. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Dave
