1) Wrote to Greek Consulate in France requesting full info. Replied saying not involved. Not helpful.
2) Where do you make application and exact requirements?
3)Is other professional help needed?
4) I am retired, in good health and want to obtain non expat insurance company quotes. Sites?
5)I do not have any contacts in
Thessaloniki. Is there expat or organisation who can give me some time or a meeting for questions regarding transportation, housing, etc. I have lived outside the Uk since 1970 in USA, Africa, and mainland Europe. Will be in Thessaloniki in three weeks. Thanks.

After doing some basic research online, the process seems pretty straight forward. You apply for a D7 visa from your local consulate in the US which allows you to travel to Greece.. After you arrive in Greece you have to submit the proper documents to receive your residence permit.

Hi Millsey,

I'm in a similar boat to you. I am not retired, but am an online masters student through a US university. I would be doing my studies from Greece and funding myself there on savings. I am a US citizen, currently living in France but returning to the US next week and would apply for the Greece visa/permit from the US. Similar to you, I'm looking for more info on the "visitor" type 1 year permit (designed for retirees/anyone who will support themselves in Greece without working). Did you manage to get more info? Did you end up working with lawyer or consultant? If yes, anyone you recommend? Or anyone you don't recommend, for that matter...? I'm in the beginning stages of planning and will gladly accept any insight, tips, or recommendations you may have!
Best,
M

Thanks. I have subsequently found MBG Consulting in Thess and am trying to get a reply from them for a meeting. Yes, still British passport but residency to live in France.
so betwixt and between!
