Hello all!

My boyfriend and I will be moving around Lake Atitlan by the end of October! I know lots of Spanish but I am not fluent, yet.. he knows some but I am confident he will pick up a lot once we move. We will be moving there with our dogs. The house we will be moving in is quite large so we thought about using airbnb to rent out our other rooms that will just sent there empty not being used, thoughts on this? I think the closest town to the house is Sololá. .

We both have bachelors degrees. Mine is in animal science, I definitely want to be able to put my skills towards animal related things. I have worked with a veterinarian for many years with small and large animals. . I plan on volunteering with ayuda but I also need some way to make money so I was hoping maybe there was a veterinarian clinic I could work with as well?? My boyfriend has a degree in history/ political science so I was thinking he could do some good by teaching English somewhere? Now, not to toot our own horns but we are both very well rounded individuals that can do anything. We are both very motivated and have done a little bit of everything already. Most of all we just want to experience this new way of life and are so very excited. . Any tips on jobs would be nice.

Also, my sister may move with me and she is going into 7th grade, so what is a good school for international students? Cost for those places? I want her to learn Spanish as well, or would it just be easier to home school her!?

I know this is a lot but we are trying to figure it all out and any advice/ information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

hi there,
you could probably find teaching work with the expat school in Panajachel Life school, AMA<, PCI but you should inquire now as they are finishing the year...
Airbnb .. do your rental contract allow you to subrent?
Working with ayuda is a great idea..but working to be paid it might be hard.
Remember you are on a tourist visa so you are not allowed to work and second competing with the locals professionals is not fair..as it is a small pool of people who can afford veterinarian quality treatment for their animals.
Teaching english .. do it online much easier and very good..specially for chinese.
Expat School.. they go from $ 200 - $ 300 depending which one.
And PM when you are around I would be happy to have you over to chat on political science which is what I studied as well..
Welcome to the lake

Hi there. Panajachel Colegio Internacional (PCI) would be happy to receive a job application from your partner. They can send their resume and cover letter to [email protected]. We also would welcome your sister to our 7th grade. We'll have an amazing team of international teachers this year and it would be a wonderful multicultural experience for her. We provide am excellent university preparatory education. Welcome to Pana!
