I would appreciate any guidance from the ground there in Guate whether it is safe, advisable, or possible to fly from US to Aurora at this time. Please pick any of the above words(or ones of your choosing) to describe this idea. Any and all info appreciated. Ciudad Vieja, Antigua, Xela? maybe

The airport and all borders are currently closed. the Airport only open for repatriation flights. NO commercial flights. Via land/sea borders ONLY Guatemalans or those with a DPI.
Current suggested opening date for the airport is 15 August BUT probably only for flights within Central America. Due to pandemic cases rises constantly in the USA it is very possible that commercial flights from there will be one of the last! Look at what is happening in Europe. That is the way most of Latin America will probably go.
Meanwhile, cases here also continue to rise, and we are on lockdown, with a proposed stages opening up starting on Mon 27th July.
Personally I don't envisage flights from the USA until Sept/Oct at the earliest.
So for now, no, not possible, nor safe nor advisable!! Stay home and stay safe. Guatemala is here and not going anywhere!! Many of us cannot even go to our next door village right now!

Right now, unless you are a Guatemalan citizen or legal resident, you will not be allowed into the country. There are no incoming commercial passenger flights right now. If you ARE a Guate citizen or legal resident, you could enter the country by land: fly to Mexico City, fly to Tapachula, taxi to the border, walk across the border, have a pre-arranged private vehicle waiting for you to take you to your destination. You may be required to self-quarantine for 2 weeks.

The country is closed. No one knows when the airport will open. Curfews at night and all day Sundays. No public transportation. No travel between certain departments. Stay home for now, can't get in to the country.
