driving thru Mexico to Guatemala

I have land secured in Guatemala and am hoping to move there soon. Am considering buying old school bus in FL, USA and driving thru Mexico to Guatemala. What troubles lie ahead? immigration, legal, government, otherwise. I'm 74 and have been told I can bring in practically anything in my household duty free--that's to Guatemala. But does the Mexican gov't have to say about all this? what do I do?

I am not sure about all the details of bringing your household things into Mexico but I traveled through on a motorcycle laden with my belongings, and the only pain was entering and exiting with the vehicle. It's not that big of a deal but takes paperwork and time at the border. But we didn't get charged or anything for having our bikes loaded with gear.

And we had no problems with police or anything at anytime, just drove during daylight only.

Hope that's helpful.

thanks for the info. I remember yrs ago my folks bought land in Canada and when going into C. the gov't put a "lock" on the truck which was only to be opened by another gov't official at destination, this to insure nothing was removed/sold/etc. Canada is NOT Mexico and these are different times so just trying to know ahead of time what to expect. again, thanks
