Possible Move to Ireland

Hi All,

This is my first post here and have been perusing through some other posts in general and have picked up plenty of info but these are my main questions:

I've never visited ireland and neither has my girlfriend but based on some research we've decided that county Wexford and the surrounding areas/counties might be the best for us but we have a number of questions and are open to many suggestions too.

Firstly, we both like the rain but feel that in some areas of Ireland it could be too much and noted that the south east around Wexford was said to be drier, so how true is this?

Secondly, what are property prices like there in the south east compared to the rest of the country, as we initially plan to rent and then buy in the future once we have a greater understanding of the location?

Thirdly, as we work from home being close to a large city is not important and we certainly prefer a more rural setting as long as there is a nearby town or city close by. When I say rural I mean more semi-rural as we'd like other houses close by and we are not looking for isolation?

I also saw on the internet that Wexford is the burglary capital of Ireland which surprised me, how true is this or is this just an exaggeration?

Again I've gotten some conflicting info regarding the cost of living there. How does say a small city like Wexford compare to a similar sized city in the UK?
