Dual US-EU Citizenship

Ciao tutti -- I just found and registered to this site. It looks like it will be very useful. Here's my situation... Because I thought it would make life easier, through my father's birthright, I applied for and just received German citizenship (it amazingly took less than 6 months...it helps if you're not in a main city cuz then you can deal by phone and mail with the closest consulate...in my case Seattle-SF). I am currently awaiting my EU/German passport (should arrive in about 8 weeks) and then I guess I'll be free to roam around the EU! I'm incredibly excited! My sole purpose for this was the desire to live and work in Italy at some point in my life (I speak near-fluent Italian). A few questions... 1) I believe I still would need to register for a permesso diS, correct? Would my EU passport be all I need to show? 2) I believe I also would need to get a codice fiscale...what does one need/how does one go about that? 3) I would think I don't need a job or a place to live already lined up as an EU citizen or proof of living funds, is that correct? 4) What about health insurance? Do I still need proof of this? Would my private US coverage suffice? Any other things I need to be aware of? I'm in the process of translating my CV into Italian and will start sending off because of course it would be great to have something before I went over, but if not, I still may give this a shot come Fall. Grazie per il vostro consiglio. Paola
