I, too, am from Texas (originally). When I was in Italy the things I wish I'd brought with me were:

Mac & Cheese
Peanut Butter
99ยข 2-liters of Dr. Pepper (or any soft drink for that matter)
Tide liquid laundry detergent
Any electronics you might want (computer, printer, etc. if they can be modified to run on the European current because they cost a lot there!)
A clothes dryer (at least for sheets, towels & jeans)
Sonic Drive-In (would that clear customs?)
Sam's Club/Costco/WalMart stores
an air conditioner (AND cheap electricity)
flat-fee internet access
* yes, flour tortillas were ALWAYS something I would take and/or get someone to pick up at a miltary base for me

The things I wish I had from Italy now that I'm back?:
Napolitano Pizza for 3 Euro
House Wines for 3 Euro
Vernel fabric softner (peach scented is my favorite)
afternoon siestas
fresh mozzarella
fresh ricotta
the selection of breads they have daily
gelato
pre-paid cellular phones (at a decent/minute rate)
