Transferwise - ACH bank debit or wire transfer

For those of you who are using Transferwise to transfer money from a US bank to an Italian bank account, do you select the ACH bank debit or wire transfer method? It seems my bank charges a small fee for the domestic transfer ($15) but I don't think there is a fee for the ACH transfer. Is one advantageous over the other?

I follow the thread, but don't live in Italy. I have family in Ukraine, and use a UK company to transfer money from my US bank account to my family. It actually goes from my bank account (via my debit card), to my family's debit card. Fees are low, $2 for the first $500, and it' ususally takes less that 5 minutes for funds to be available to them. Quick and easy.

I've been using them for a year now, and usually send a few times per month. Never had a single problem.

I use the ACH bank debit from my USAA account in the US, otherwise, as you stated my US bank will charge a wire fee.

I use their app on my phone to do my transfers, quick, easy, and no problems.

I transfer on a semi frequent basis to my Italian bank. I only ever use the ACH, the time frame is at most three days, sometimes two. It all goes to their NY bank and then the NY bank does the overseas transfers once per day. I don't know whether a wire transfer would gain you much.
