Obtaining Italian citizenship through Jure Sanguinis

Good morning everyone. Just returned from a wonderful trip to Italy. Between work and vacation, I have spent nearly 6 months within the last 10 years. I would like to learn from anyone that has petitioned for residency or citizenship thru Jure Sanguinis for non Eu citizens. I can trace back 3 or 4 generations and provide marriage and birth certificates for relatives on both my maternal and parental sides.

You must apply to the Italian Consulate
having jurisdiction for your residence area in the US. Different consulates may handle things differently.
Here is an example from Philadelphia

https://consfiladelfia.esteri.it/consolato_filadelfia/en/i_servizi/per_i_cittadini/cittadinanza/cittadinanza-per-discendenza.html

Note that you need to retain an Italian lawyer-- at least it is necessary in Philadelphia.
If you have the documents and the lineage is uninterrupted, it is a matter of translation and authentication
Note the Forms linked to the above link--for example

No need to hire an attorney. Once you're determined eligible, just follow the instructions of the consulate and assemble the supporting documentation.

My experience was slightly different. The London consulate had lots of rules and it was just easier to employ a lawyer that knows them. For example, my original birth certificate was no use. It had to be a certified copy. Eh?!! Anyway, I was granted Italian citizenship last year and very happy I am about it too. (My mum and everyone on her side of the family are Italian born and bred so there was no dispute or anything)

Buongiorno! Residency and citizenship are vastly different. Determine 'your' Italian consulate in the USA. (Consulates have specific jurisdictions - your consulate is based on your city/state.) Their websites can give you information about types of visas and/or information about obtaining citizenship through JS. Currently, because of the pandemic, some services are temporarily not being offered or are being rescheduled. The key to a successful JS case is knowing if and when ancestors naturalized - to see if the chain was broken. I would suggest joining the Facebook page 'Dual U.S.-Italian Citizenship'. There is a wealth of knowledge. You'll be asked to read informational units before posting questions. You absolutely do not need a lawyer to obtain a visa or to apply for a JS case at a consulate in the U.S. You'll only need an Italian attorney for citizenship if you have a '1948' case. I hope this gets you started.

Sorry, when I read non-EU, I assumed USA. My apologies if this is incorrect.
