Is the Veneto a good place to live for annex-pay?

I frankly admit a love of the three cool cities, one with a very old university that makes it quite lively...which is Bologna. Their nearby towns of Modena and Parma....well, what more can one ask for? Their reputation for fabulous good food is what is drawing me since I am a cook. And if you want to dazzle with mosaics, Ravenna close by, you can take a class! That is what I am doing this March. But yes, the Veneto is fabulous as well.

I’ve been to Ravenna, Venice. I was looking to explore further up the Adriatic coast, the beach towns…Jesolo, Caorle. Anyone been there?

Those beach towns are more populated in the summer months by vacationers and people who have second homes where they stay on weekends. Vicenza, about an hour west of Venice, has a lot of US civilians and members of the military who work at the bases. Padova draws a lot of foreigners with its university and is about 1/2 hour from Venice, Verona is farther west and a very lovely city that draws tourists year round and therefore also has many expats. Consider exploring those and perhaps some smaller cities like Bassano del Grappa or Citadella as well.

Ciao Hippiechick. Senigallia (AN) in Marche is a coastal town of 44K but with a small town atmosphere. I'm an ex-pat and this has been a good area. The train station is within walking distance of the city center. The people have been very friendly. I found a one hectare olive farm only 2 miles from the center of town ... with a little view of the sea. Best of luck and great adventures. Kathy (67 yr old 'flower child' ? from California.)
