renting and business

We want to rent a nice place with at least three bedrooms close to the ocean and be able to walk to town or shops.
we want to know the best way to find the perfect place to rent, do we search online or do we need to hit the streets on foot?
our Italian is still poor but we have time to learn.

In Australia we have a short term rental business, We would like to know if it is possible to rent or buy property in Italy as an Australian and set up as short term rentals and if anyone has experience doing this.

Many thanks folks, I cant wait to here from everyone.

If you want to rent close to the ocean, you are not in the right country...Italy is not surrounded by any oceans!. Perhaps I am being a bit too harsh, but it appears you have very little knowledge about Europe and Italy in particular. Nor have you done any in-depth research before posting your inquiry!

Please don’t be offended by the above response. As a Brit in my third year of researching the protocols ; preparing ; daily language ; frequent visiting in every season and driving thousands of fascinating miles ; never giving up on the continual post Brexit & bureaucratic/ visa hurdles …. I can see why your lovely positive Aussie attitude might cause that response. Ha ha.
I love Aus , have children there. Would live there tomorrow but it doesn’t want me anymore than Italy does really.
Do read loads about Italy’s history both cultural and political ; see where it is now financially and going forward. eg employment and retirement visas.
Good Luck. ( ps all the surrounding seas in the South are never far away. ) ?

There are 4723 miles of coastline in Italy. The are sea’s not oceans but who cares what they are called. You can find what you want. I have friends that have rentals so you can buy and rent property.

Italmio, You are a bit "too harsh"! Don't be rude and ignorant. You know they meant "on the water" in Italy and it is surrounded by the SEA!! If you can't provide useful information, and be a good person, don't bother to reply!!! You give all Italians a bad name!!

Hello,

Yes, that was a little brash.

I know what you mean. You are looking for a home on the Mediterranean. I like several areas in Sicily, including Cefalu. I also liked Viareggio, although it was not my wife's choice.

You will find there are plenty of great places on the Mediterranean to select in Italy.
