Opening bank account

Hi, I just returned from another yearly trip to JA.
I use to have a RBC bank account in May Pen when I heard RBC was leaving JA I closed my account as I didn't know about the new bank taking it's place. I'm sorry I did as it's very hard opening a new account. Every time I go I bring all my info only to find new info requirement rules & I have to hold off till my next trip. Its is easier to get my CA passport and JA TRN which took 40 minutes and was easy as pie.
Now MY question: is it only foreign banks that are this cumbersome or is it ALL even local banks ie Jamaica National ?
I want to continue building my house again and need an account. I perfered Canadian affiliated but will settle for any bank at this point. Anything that you can suggest would be great.
Thanks

I post my own reply as my partner, he is still there and has gone to 4 different banks. They all need a TON of paperwork. 3 month pay stubs income tax paper's and official references which are the hardest. He found Jamaica National was a bit more easier; though it still took 2 hours to open the account. They have an office in Canada which is not too far a trip from us. They allow him to open there; I can join in Canada. Still a ton of paperwork. We can also make deposits in Canada (No withdraws in CA) making it easier to save up and transfer larger amounts of money for his next trip in a few months. They also have branches in the USA and in UK if anyone else is interested. I can also pay my JA bills on line from Canada .
